Laser skin surfacing has become one of the most convenient and effective tools used in modern medical practices today. Skin rejuvenation seems to be the "fountain of youth" journey many patients determinably desire, and Fraxel Laser technology has 'smoothed out' the process with an air of convenience and has eliminated risks. While older lasers produced undesirable side effects (whiter or darker areas in the treated zones, redness, and scarring) and could only be used on the face, Fraxel treatments can also be performed on various parts of the body.
The Fraxel Laser procedure utilizes thousands of tiny light beams that can effectively narrow the treatment zones to microscopic proportions. What this does is treat only the needed portion of the skin while leaving the untouched skin areas around to aid in quick healing and recovery. Fraxel Laser can also penetrate the skin more deeply, which stimulates collagen production (thus making the skin more youthful in appearance). Adjustable settings on the laser allow the surgeon to customize treatment to the individual. Three to five treatments over a short period of two to four weeks are the generally recommended steps.
Parts of the body where Fraxel Laser can prove advantageous are the face, neck, hands, breasts, stomach, buttocks, hips, and thighs. Skin blemishes, especially stretch marks on the stomach, breasts, thighs, and buttocks can be effectively removed with Fraxel Lasers, as well as the treatment of wrinkles, acne, age spots, blemishes, pore size, and other unwanted skin malaise.
The typical procedure usually takes around 30 minutes, although larger needs (stretch marks, etc.) will require longer procedure times. This is most times an outpatient process; a nurse will apply a topical anesthetic to the treatment area and, when numbed and possibly aided by an oral painkiller, the plastic surgeon then begins the procedure. Recovery is amazingly quick with Fraxel Laser skin resurfacing, therefore healing times range usually from 1-3 days (or slightly longer for bigger treatments). Aggressive Fraxel treatments will demand not only longer recovery, but the plastic surgeon may give instructions to wash the treated area frequently and apply moisturizer or ice packs (needs and recovery vary, of course).
This treatment is dual in result time: it is both immediate and progressive, as the patient can see the results within a few days and continued improvements over the period of the following months. Though everyone continues to age, Fraxel Laser skin resurfacing can take years off a person's looks, giving a new and youthful appearance to be enjoyed for years to come.
